This sweet family has been with me from the start. That adorable little guy was one of my first newborn sessions many moons ago. And then Bret bought his beautiful bride a family session for her Mama’s day gift. As in–all of his own accord–he contacted me and worked out all the details because he knew his wife would love it. How amazing is that?! That’s also when tragedy struck– Megan’s mom was diagnosed with cancer in June of that year and passed in January. Everything came down within 7 months. Can you even fathom?!
It was heart-breaking to watch and hear about the deep sadness and mourning as she traveled up north to visit and help her Mama. And eventually to say good-bye. It being “hard” or “a huge struggle” doesn’t even begin to describe their journey this past year. It required an unbelievable amount of strength and courage. And so, we waited. Waited until we could capture life in images, smile wide smiles, and snuggle the here and now. I can’t imagine the huge loss for this amazing family. It was an extreme honor to capture their joy, love, and connection for each other. That they would trust me with that. I’m sure this family has a deeper understanding and love for the ones they cherish; knowing and experiencing the fact that nothing is a sure thing, first hand. And I’m sure her Mama is just pleased as punch seeing what a beautiful legacy she nurtured while she was earth-side. Enjoy some of my favorites from our session!
